In 1851, Horace Greeley, voicing the optimism and unlimited opportunity in America at the time, coined the phrase, "Go west, young man!" That same year, Carl Hilmar Guenther, a newly arrived German immigrant, did just that.

Heading west, C.H. Guenther went in search of the American Dream and a perfect setting for his first mill. Happily, he found both in Texas. One hundred and fifty years later, C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. proudly holds the title of the oldest family-owned business in Texas. In addition, it is the oldest continuously operated family-owned milling company in the United States.

In celebration of our 150 years of homemade taste, tradition and pride,
C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. has planned many exciting events for employees, customers and shareholders. We're even taking the opportunity to host several gatherings in the home town of our company - San Antonio.

Plans for the C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. 150-Year Celebration also includes a historical book of the company's first 150 years, anniversary merchandise such as a beautiful commemorative plate and a historic cookbook filled with delicious recipes. C.H. Guenther & Son, Inc. is participating in various special events, including local county fairs. We are also receiving gracious recognition from organizations such as North American Millers' Association and local and state governments.
